PLAB (Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board) is an examination based in the United Kingdom. The medical graduates who wish to reside in the United Kingdom and practice medical science have to take the PLAB exam. After clearing both the parts of the exam, the graduates can work as a doctor in the United Kingdom.

  • Who can appear for the PLAB exam?

Any medical graduate from a place outside the UK (United Kingdom), Switzerland and the European Economic Area (EEA) can take the PLAB exam. Also, the candidate must have at least 7.0 in their IELTS exam.

  • When does PLAB take place?

The first part of the PLAB exam takes place in March, June, September and November every year. It should be noted that it is not necessary that the exam will take place in all the four months in all the countries. The second part of the exam takes place around the year except for August and December.

  • PLAB Exam Part 1

The first part of the exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions and the time allotted is 3 hours. There are five options to each question and the candidate has to select the right one. Part 1 of the PLAB exam is conducted in many countries with India being one of them.

  • PLAB Exam Part 2

Part 2 of PLAB is an objective structured clinical examination. The test consists of 18 plots and the time to answer if 8 minutes for each question with an additional 2 minutes reading time for each. For taking part 2 of the PLAB exam, the candidates have to move to Manchester or Cambridge or London.
